Pay Rates: From £12.02 - £22.67 ph depending on location

Shift Patterns: Early, Lates, Nights, Long Days, Weekends & Bank Holidays  

Covering the following locations:
Meadow court Goodmayes hospital
Thurrock Community Hospital
Mountnessing court
Brentwood Community Hospital
Ainslie Rehabilitation Unit 3
 

Working under the guidance of healthcare professionals as a Healthcare Assistant you’ll be vital to ensuring the patients experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Health Care Assistants are key members of our multi-disciplinary team, carrying out direct personal care and support with activities of daily living for patients in the ward and intermediate care unit. Working in support of the qualified nurse or therapist, the job involves caring for patients a range of medical and nursing needs, actively contributing to the effectiveness of team working in the rehabilitation and care of all our patients. The post holder has a key duty to promote patient choice, dignity and privacy in line with the core values of North East London Foundation Trust.

What you’ll be responsible for: 

  • To assist the patients with their individual activities of daily living as required.  This will include washing, dressing, bathing, oral hygiene, food and nutrition, toileting, nail care, grooming, safety and maintaining an environment conducive to sleep. 
  • Providing support to patients and promoting independence. To contribute to the moving and handling of patients to maximize their physical comfort and to enhance their rehabilitation and independence
  • To carry out delegated tasks, in which competency has been assessed, relating to the monitoring of patients physical condition, including routine observations of a patients temperature, pulse and respirations and the collection of specimens.
  • To assist in the maintenance of the cleanliness and tidiness of the unit, always adhering to infection control principles.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above. 

 

You’ll need to have the following qualification/experience:

  • A minimum of 6 months paid experience in an Acute Hospital or Community Hospital environment within the last 2 years 
  • NVQ or Btec Level 2 or higher in Health and Social Care or Equivalent care qualification such as Care Certificate or Apprenticeship.
  • Currently studying General/Adult Nursing (Student Nurse) and completed a minimum of 12 weeks clinical placements.  

 

*Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
